Online movie nights are more fun when the group can actually react together — same scene, same moment, and a channel to laugh and gasp in. Mzelo is a free watch party platform that keeps everyone's playback in sync while layering text chat, voice, camera, and emoji reactions on top.

15-minute setup for hosts

1. Open mzelo.com/app and create a room. Give it a custom URL like friday-night so it's easy to re-share.
2. Add a name, description, and profile picture so the room has an identity.
3. Set privacy to Private in Room Settings. Optionally enable Deny Guests if you want registered accounts only.
4. Set a default role for new joiners — Knight is a good middle ground (mic/cam/images but no media control).
5. Pre-queue content in the YouTube player if you're starting with trailers or music.

Content options

During the movie

• Turn on Movie Night Mode — synchronized across the room, it enlarges the video and compacts the user list.
• Use Theatre Mode 4 to overlay chat on the video if people want to keep reacting.
• Flying emojis are ideal for scary/funny/sad scenes where typing breaks the vibe.
• Anyone can ignore a specific person's chat or mic/cam just for themselves — useful if someone is too reactive.

• Themed marathons (horror in October, musicals in December).
• Vote nights where chat picks between 2-3 options at start.
