Virtual Movie Night Online
Mzelo makes virtual movie nights simple and repeatable. Pick a room, pick a watch mode, invite your crew with a link, and start the movie. Everyone's playback stays in sync, and voice, video, and chat are one click away.
Movie-night setup in 5 minutes
- Open mzelo.com/app and click the plus (+) button to create a room.
- Give it a memorable URL like mzelo.com/app/rooms/friday-night, a name, and a profile picture.
- Set it to Private for an invite-only night.
- Pick a watch mode: YouTube Player for YouTube content, Web Player or Virtual Browser for streaming sites, Screen Share for something on your machine, or Local Media Share for a downloaded file with subtitles.
- Share the link and hit play.
Why Mzelo works for movie night specifically
- Movie Night Mode — enable it once and every viewer gets an enlarged video and compacted UI, synchronized.
- Four theatre modes to match whatever layout you want (hide chat, overlay chat, etc.).
- Flying emojis for reactions without blocking your view.
- Live camera feeds replace avatars so the room feels like a couch.
- Persistent room — same URL every week.
Pick the right watch mode
- Free movies on YouTube → YouTube Player.
- Streaming sites → Virtual Browser (or Web Player with direct URLs).
- Your own downloaded movie → Local Media Share (great for subtitle files).
- Content only you have access to → Screen Share (use Chromium browsers for audio).
Recurring friend movie clubs
Set up the room once. Promote your regulars to King, enable Decor Mode, and lock it for maximum continuity. Guests can still join via link if you want an open night — or flip Deny Guests on for registered-only.
