Free Watch Party — No Download Required
Mzelo runs entirely in the browser, so guests never have to install anything to join a watch party. Send a link, they click, they're in. This is why Mzelo works well for spontaneous plans and mixed-device groups where some people are on laptops, some on phones, some on Android.
What "no download" actually means here
- Viewers install nothing. Any modern browser works.
- Host usually installs nothing. YouTube Player, Virtual Browser, and Screen Share all work out of the box.
- Optional extension — only if you want to grab direct video URLs from a streaming site, the free M3U8 Sniffer Chrome extension makes that easier. Android users don't need this; the Android app has a built-in browser that auto-detects links.
Why friction matters for watch parties
- People flake when setup takes 10+ minutes.
- Group chats include folks on random devices — phones, tablets, work laptops.
- The fewer steps between "here's the link" and "we're watching", the more actual watch parties happen.
Three-step flow
- Open mzelo.com/app in your browser and create a room.
- Send the room URL to your group.
- Pick a watch mode (YouTube Player is the lowest-friction) and press play.
Chromium tip for hosts: For screen share with audio, use Chrome, Edge, or Opera. Firefox and Safari don't capture audio during screen share.
Device compatibility without downloads
- Windows / Mac / Linux — any modern browser. Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari all work for viewers.
- iPhone / iPad — Safari on iOS works for viewing and chat. Screen share with audio requires Chromium on desktop.
- Android — the web app works in Chrome, or install the native Android app from Google Play for a slightly better mobile experience.
- Smart TV / Chromebook — browser access works; local media share and screen share may have limitations depending on the browser.
