Watch Videos Together With Voice and Video Chat
Mzelo is a group watch-party platform where synchronized video playback and live voice + video chat live in the same room. Start a session, share one invite link, and everyone can hang out face-to-face while watching.
Everything in one room
- Synced playback across every viewer — YouTube, web player, virtual browser, screen share, or local media.
- Live voice chat with a blue speaking ring around active speakers.
- Live camera feeds that replace avatars in the user list so everyone can see reactions.
- Text chat with animated emojis, GIFs, images, and file attachments.
- Flying emojis that animate across everyone's screen — perfect for reactions mid-scene.
Voice and camera controls
- Mic and camera are off by default. Each person enables their own when they want.
- Pick a specific microphone or camera in Room Settings if you have multiple devices.
- Moderators can ignore mic/cam for specific users (hide their video and mute them for you) without removing anyone from the room.
- Kings and the Owner can hush disruptive users — disables their chat, mic, and camera for everyone.
Which watch mode pairs best with voice/video chat
- YouTube Player — lowest-friction option for group sessions; just paste a link or build a shared queue.
- Virtual Browser — great when streaming from a site, because the stream quality doesn't depend on one person's upload.
- Screen Share — works well when one person has access to the content locally. Audio capture needs a Chromium-based browser.
- Local Media Share — ideal for MP4/MKV files with subtitles. Started from web, watchable on web and Android.
Chromium tip
For the smoothest voice/video-plus-watch experience, use Chrome, Edge, or Opera. Audio capture during screen share isn't supported in Firefox or Safari, so voice chat + silent screen share is a common mismatch that a Chromium browser solves.
Typical use cases
- Weekly movie nights where everyone wants to talk over the movie.
- Long-distance couples watching shows together.
- Friend groups running reaction sessions on trailers or YouTube.
- Small communities hosting casual hangout calls with background content.
