Watch YouTube Together Online
Mzelo's YouTube watch party loads the real YouTube player on each viewer's device and keeps everything in sync: play, pause, seek, and queue changes apply to the whole room in real time.
What you can do in a YouTube watch room
- Search YouTube from inside the room or just paste any video link.
- Build a shared queue. Videos autoplay in order; anyone with the right role can add.
- Import playlists. Public or unlisted playlists work. Autoplay walks through the whole list.
- Like videos to save them to your favorites playlist.
- History — replay anything from earlier in the session.
- Subtitles and quality work exactly like on YouTube.com, since the real player is loaded.
Great for
- Music nights — take turns adding songs to the shared queue.
- Reaction sessions — trailers, podcasts, new releases.
- Video essays and long-form content with friends.
- Casual background hangouts while chatting on voice/video.
- Creator communities — host a small watch club for your favorite channels.
Invite flow
- Create a room at mzelo.com/app.
- Open the YouTube player.
- Share the room URL with friends. The URL format is
https://mzelo.com/app/rooms/<room_code>.
- Start queuing. Play/pause/seek are synchronized automatically.
Pair with voice and video chat
YouTube sessions work great with voice and video chat. Mic and camera are off by default — enable them whenever you're comfortable. Moderators can hush, kick, or ban anyone disruptive. For lighter moderation you can ignore a specific user's chat or mic/camera just for yourself.
Who controls the queue
Mzelo uses a role system so chaos doesn't happen in big rooms:
- King / Owner: full control over the YouTube player.
- Queen: full media control, including YouTube.
- Bishop: can add videos to the queue.
- Knight / Pawn: can watch and chat, but not manage the queue.
Adjust the default role new people land on from Room Settings.
